About Me: I am a visual artist and did my post-grad from the faculty of fine arts, MSU, Baroda. While nature is the starting point, abstraction is the goal. My work to a large extent is informed and inspired by diverse elements from mythological literature, integral to its visual imagery. I attempt to weave narratives from these sources, at times introducing certain elements-images from my dreams; at times generating narratives through a pattern of symbolic registers, drawing on the tradition of magic realism to bring in a sense of playful resonance that is both personal and universal. Drawing from varied sources such as children's fables, astrology and mythology, in my works I often juxtapose symbols with alphabets/letters to create a quilt-like pattern of multiple meanings, symbolically exploring the very undercurrent of weaving together a narrative through the process of image-making. The goal is to achieve the expressiveness of painting through the artistic treatment of the images.
